Influencers are just cheap sales people

The criticism of sellouts died with the 90's. Back then, people wanted to be individuals (not group defined), they wanted their skill or talent to be seen and heard and make money off of that (not everything around the skill or talent), and they weren't into being sold out as a 24/7 commercial. 
Fast forward to today and you have people with limited to no skills (influencers), shilling and commercializing every aspect of their life for ad money from any big conglomerate that will take the bait. Someone like Ninja moving to Mixer from Twitch is a perfect example. A guy who plays video games sells out to a corporation (Microsoft) to be a living advertisement for their platform. It's not just him either, it is the entire "influencer" culture built on making money from ads and getting their faces in front of everyone to shill everything. You could say that playing games is his skill… But really? Is it? Will it mean anything in 10 years? 
In the 90's Pearl Jam wanted people to listen to their music, enjoy their music, enjoy their live show, and focus on the music. They stopped making music videos (fear of overexposure), they didn't license out their music for commercials to use, they fought to keep ticketing prices down, at their own expense, and they didn't go around making endorsement deals with corporations. We went from the 90's where overexposure was something to fight, image couldn't be bought, and being an individual meant something, to the 2000's on, where one must have 24/7 exposure, image is something to sell, being apart of a group and representing that group is everything and individuality is scorned. In the process, the corporations have become thrilled that they can latch on and control the influencers and thereby control the influence itself. 

If you have an actual skill, then it cannot be "demonitized." It does not depend on the advertising of a platform or the dollars of the corporate master. You can make money off of that skill or talent and still control your credibility and soul vs selling it to the corporate overlords. The problem lies in the fact that today's "influencers" don't really have any talent other than that of selling themselves in the moment. There is zero permanence to what they are doing. Over 2 decades later, we can still go back to the album Ten from Pearl Jam and enjoy what they created. In less than a year, most of the content an "influencer" makes is outdated and holds no value in going back to it. The influencer is a product of the moment and nothing but a fad, or a creation of the corporate control that is looking to control you, the consumer. 
Obviously, people like Ninja have an in the moment audience. Influencers have a short shelf life. Being a product of the corporation means selling out their image and youth to entice the youth that corporations are intent on controlling. They have no legacy though. Nothing an influencer does will be talked about even ten years from now. So props to them for taking the money, even though they are sellouts. They have nothing else to sell but themselves though. No skills or talent that can translate into a legacy. Therefore, those who are the viewers/listeners should realize that the "influencer" is nothing but a living corporate advertisement, and nothing else. It’s high time people claimed their individuality and thought processes for themselves instead of following someone whose only goal is to influence you into a sale.

The word "cheap" here is not how much money they cost or make. It refers to the type of person they are, interchangeable with shallow, sleazy, or reprehensible.
